Update from Trevor

Happy Mid March!

Hello everyone! I hope you are doing well! I wanted to start this month’s update with

something a little fun. I recently completed my first ever bottle of hot sauce! For those

who know me well, I’ve never been one to enjoy spicy food, but Spain seems to be

changing that!

I hope you enjoy this edition of what the Lord is doing here in Spain!

Language School Update!

Language school! I just finished one of my courses at the university and I did really

well on the final exams! My professor told me that my Spanish has been making

significant improvements, which is very encouraging to hear.

Tomorrow I will be starting my final course at the university, I am in the B1.2 class and

level, which will conclude on May 30th.

I have a solid community and friend group at language school, which has made learning and talking in Spanish super fun! Last weekend, I went with some of my friends to the Real Madrid Stadium, speaking only in Spanish and I was able to communicate the whole day without any problems.

Super Powers!

Lately, I have been reflecting on some of

my expectations and experiences coming

into the mission field. I think a part of me

expected that by stepping into missions, I’d

suddenly wake up and receive divine “superpowers” like the apostles in the early church, who performed miracles and brought hundreds of people to the Lord. But the truth is, I’m still ordinary Trevor, God didn’t send me because I’m perfect or that I have miraculous powers. He sent me here because He knows me and I am willing to follow Him.

God is not surprised by us. He knows us right where we are at and He still loves us! He calls ordinary people because He is extraordinary! And what He asks of us is not perfection, but faithfulness. It’s about saying “yes” to God, especially when we feel ordinary.

Being here in Spain, I’ve realized that saying “yes” to God matters way more than any special gift or ability I thought I needed. I think that is the true superpower. If we say “yes” to Him, the Holy Spirit moves through us in ways we could never do on our own. He doesn't need us, but yet He still includes us in His mission. And by doing that, He shares with us His love and victory.

“Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful. God chose things despised by the world, things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important. As a result, no one can ever boast in the presence of God.”

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭1‬:‭27‬-‭29‬ ‭

“Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

2 Corinthians‬ ‭12‬:‭9‬-‭10‬

Prayer Requests

These are some ways you can be praying for me!

  • Please pray for the final Spanish course at the university, that the Lord will continue to give me progress as I finish.

  • Please pray for the camp and the upcoming summer season, that the Lord continues to lead and protect over us as we host groups in His name.

  • And finally, please pray that I would continue to grow in my faith and obedience to Him, and that the Lord provides the strength and opportunity to share His Gospel.

Thank you all so much for your continued prayers and support. It means more to me than words can express. I pray that God will bless you abundantly for everything you do for me as we work together to spread the Gospel!

Blessings,
